We have two psychological needs: connection and purpose.

Find out how SEAR can help you find clarity to build a connected, meaningful life.

The SEAR Method:
A 4-Step Transformative Experience

  • S | Surrender

It takes massive courage to ask for help.
We accept that we cannot do this alone.
    We seek guidance.

  • E | Expose

    We identify what isn’t working.
    We explore wounds and hurts.
We put our finger on the problem.

  • A | Ask/Answer

Ask yourself: who am I here to be?
    Answer the Call to Adventure.

  • R | (Re)purpose

Realign your life with your values.
Repurpose yourself for connection and meaning.

How is SEAR different?

Our healthcare system wants sick people to stay sick.

Hot take: the average therapist wants their clients to change, but slowly, so they can have a consistent slot filled for months or even years.

SEAR was designed to provide a launching pad for transformation in 8-12 sessions.

You don’t need months and months of therapy to start feeling better and doing better.

 FAQs

  • Each counseling session costs $150. Unlike other counselors, I will have you complete all of the intake assessments and client history before our first session so we can dive into the important work immediately. I do not waste my clients’ time and money.

  • I am an out-of-network provider for insurance. Depending upon your coverage and policy, you may be reimbursed up to 50% of the cost of our sessions through your health insurance

  • The length of treatment is determined on a case-by-case basis. My goal is for my clients to start feeling better and have a clear sense of direction in 4-8 sessions, (which is considered short-term therapy in this field!), with an additional 4-8 sessions to hammer home coping skills and building new patterns. To state the obvious, clients who are ready to change and work the program get the most out of it!

  • We structure therapy sessions once a week for the first month. Depending on your progress, we will either continue meeting weekly or move to every other week.

  • I structure our sessions to last 50 minutes.

  • That’s a big HELL YES! One hour a week of therapy will not give you the life of your dreams. It will require work, but that work can and will be fun 😝

What do I incorporate into my counseling approach?

  • SFBT is exactly what it sounds like: a modality built on quick interventions with an eye always on solutions, not problems.

  • If you’re anything like me, you have no f’ing clue how to do relationships. You certainly didn’t learn it from your parents.

Before my wife and I got married, we did a few months of couples counseling sessions. Now that I am training as a clinician and have studied couples counseling techniques, I know that what made our sessions so successful and restorative for our relationship was the use of Emotionally-Focused Therapy.

EFT grew out of the need to bring attachment theory into clinical practice. It taught me endlessly about my emotions and emotional regulation, and how to ask for what I need in all of my relationships.

I would not be happily married without EFT.

  • CBT is the gold standard of psychotherapy. The research on it’s effectiveness blows other approaches out of the water.
It dives into how our thoughts, feelings, and moods can be a tangled ball of yarn, and gives us tips to untangle them.

  • We are not thinking beings that feel; we are feeling beings that think.

If we are going to do better, then we have to feel better. And that starts by understanding how our nervous system is conditioned to respond to stressors in particular ways.
